Publishing Advice Monday: Plot Point: The Midpoint

Hello Dawnies,

Welcome to another Monday! Today was a day filled with coffee, coffee, and more coffee. Keep in mind I do not drink coffee.

As I continue to write my novel, I continue to review story structure. Today, I am going to discuss the midpoint. Yeah!

The midpoint should occur around the 50% mark of a novel. Here there is a major twist revealing the antagonist plan or revealing to the reader something he or she does not know about the protagonist. This new information will change how the novel moves forward.

The main character is very proactive at this point. What you want to have done is to lay clues up to this point so that your reveal comes across as major. The character is no longer running away from the problem but towards it.
