We all struggle with knowing our worth and understanding who we truly are. Frankly, it’s much deeper.
Who do you think you are? Who do you want to be? What faith have you instilled in yourself?
I’m truly reflecting on those questions today as Dawn of The Dragon releases. Most of you know that mental serenity is near and dear to my heart. This is because mental illness runs so deeply in my family. I have been open about the fact that I suffer from chemical resistant depression. That simply means medication does not help me. I must turn to prayer and self-care most of the time, but I must admit it’s a hard road to travel.
The road I am on is sometimes a very lonely sad stretch. I get tired. I get tired of the thoughts that are always there. Those negative thoughts are not just unique to me or depression. We all view ourselves negatively at times. Some of us more than others.
We have these thoughts so often that our brains begin to send messages to us that we are who our negative thoughts are making us out to be. You begin to believe you are who you think you are not.
Let me tell you who “WE” are. We are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, lovers, friends, professionals, and so on. But we are also unique human beings with extraordinary gifts and talents that we must bring forth.
Writers write. Yes, you research and try to appeal to a target audience, but you write for you in a sense. You put on the page the story you want to tell or help you want to provide for your fellow man. Will everyone like or even appreciate what you put forth. Hell no. But that does not make you any less a writer. Learn from criticism while you continue to remind yourself you are who you think you are not. The same goes for any profession, business venture, or hobby.
Make a promise to yourself today. Stop telling yourself who you are not. Confirm who you are. Confirm your worth. Don’t let you defeat you.
Be positive and stay strong.
Aundriel’s Press has finally arrived! Yes. The next chapter in my life.
